We left very early on Sunday morning and made it as far as Las Vegas. After getting a tour of the base that Ty has visited many times before, we drive out to experience the city. Carter didn't understand the whole idea of "The Strip," but eventually stopped asking if we had passed it or not. Kind of a tough one to explain to a very literal, 4 year old. We were able to get in some good shopping and enjoy our first Chipotle burrito in a very long time. Ty said it was dinner and breakfast, which I thought was funny until the next morning when I actually saw him eating my leftovers at 9am! So gross. We finally broke down and told the kids the surprise then too that we really weren't vacationing in Nevada, we were going to Disneyland. They were so excited. Carter started asking about almost every character he could think of and if he was going to get to see them or not. During one of the first quiet moments since we had told the fun news, Ty and I had just exchanged huge smiles with each other and out of nowhere Carter says, "Is Ronald McDonald going to be there?!" Ummmm... no buddy, no even sure where that could have came from! Needless to say, going to bed that night was tough for ALL of us! It was the typical reenactment of the little kid in the old Disneyland commercial, "I'm too ex-th-ited to sleep!"
Monday morning, Ty and I woke up at about 4am. We had planned on getting ourselves ready, packing the bag and throwing the kids in the car. We thought we'd worry about dressing them when we got there. Well, once Carter heard us up, he knew exactly what we were getting ready for and very excitedly, joined us. Of course, it wasn't too much longer after that when Whitleigh was also jumping out of bed yelling, "Princess Castles!" It was bound to be one of the greatest, yet longest days ever! But... we were ready!
