With Ty getting ready to leave here very soon, he really wanted to take us all to the mountains and experience the great outdoors together. As some of you may know, I have never been fond of nature but will admit, we had a very nice time! It was last Saturday after the kids' naps when we started our drive to Anderson Ranch Reservior, which is located on the South Fork of the Boise River in the Boise National Forest. It took us a couple of tries to find the perfect spot but we eventually found one. Carter and Ty fished a little bit and also skipped some rocks. Whitleigh saw the river as one big swimming pool, so I spent most of my time trying to keep her dry and occupied with throwing rocks or digging. Dinner time came and Ty took the opportunity to teach the Carter and I how to start a fire (Whitleigh just sat and blew at it, as if it was a giant candle) and then we roasted hot dogs and s'mores over it. What an experience! Carter really wanted to stay the night, but I could barely stand the sight of my two very dirty kids! I mean it... I have never seen them so dirty in all my life. Once we got home, it was straight from the car to the bath and oh my, the bath water was deplorable! Ty said "a little dirt never hurt." This is one of those areas in life where I think we will always have differing opinions. It really was a fabulous time and you can't beat a hot dog roasted over an open fire chased with an oooie-gooie s'more... I am just so thankful for warm water, soap, and a fresh change of clothes afterwards!
