Gone Fishin'

One Saturday afternoon, we decided to take the kids fishing. If a little forward thinking and planning would have taken place, we would have known that it was fishing around the state of Idaho on this particular Saturday. Needless to say, the fishing holes were pretty busy! We didn't let it stop us though.

Ty had went and bought Whitleigh her very own fishing pole earlier that day and taught her how to cast for the first time that afternoon. She caught on fast and was whipping her line out just as fast as she could reel it in. Her hat caught the attention of a local TV crew and then the news lady came up to me and asked if she could get a few comments about the "Free Fishing Day" from one of her parents. I did what any mother of two that hadn't showered yet would do... I called for my husband and gave him the "Mom Look" while telling him that the camera lady wanted to ask a few questions.

Now what does Ty do, you ask? He grabs Carter and told the women to ask him the questions. We could both tell that she was pretty unsure at first and didn't know if he'd be okay with talking to a camera or a stranger about fishing.

Ohhhh that poor, poor lady. She probably sat there for 25 minutes while Carter went into full detail on how you bait the line, cast, catch a fish, and what you do after you catch a fish. Meanwhile, Ty and I are rolling behind the camera because the lady's arm was starting to shake from hold the microphone up to his mouth... he just kept going and going and going. We gave him the "okay... that's enough" sign he started giving her pointers on how to COOK the fish!

Sure enough, that evening on the news, there was our Carter-Man! It was simply adorable and all we could think was how thankful the news crew probably was for editing software that evening!

My favorite picture of the day...
