February 2008
February was a quick month filled with all kinds of milestones for Whitleigh and Carter. They were some very busy kids that just seem to grow over night. Here's what went on in the Walsh household.
Whitleigh celebrated her last "First" holiday being Valentine's Day. She was a true sweetheart and stole even more of our hearts! She got her two front teeth this month and is slowly working on the two beside each front tooth. Walking has been her mission this month, she is everywhere! One day I watched her as she cruised around the living room from furniture to furniture with her pointer finger out touching each piece than moving to the next. I can only imagine what was going on in her little head! If she isn't walking everywhere than she is mostly likely found sitting in front of her book basket just studying each book, page by page. She has shown such girly features this month by really taking to baby dolls, purses, bracelets and telephones. It's has been such a joy having a little girl to play with and one that is growing up to be the true princess we want her to be! She did make her Daddy proud by learning to throw a ball and even kick the pink soccer ball that he insisted on getting. Around the end of the month she also finally said, "Mum-Mum" which truly did bring a smile to my face. She is working on recognizing body parts such as her nose, eyes, ears and mouth. The only one she is consistently right about is the mouth and will point to it and immediately perform her rendition of the raspberry. She will celebrate her first birthday at the beginning of next month- we can hardly believe it's been a year!
Mr. Carter has too been working on some skills. He is learning to spell all kinds of words and really starting to show a large interest in reading. He has such an amazing memory that it seems like it doesn't matter what it is, he knows the word and whatever it is that can be associated with it. For instance, we were driving down the road the other day and must have passed a GEICO office and Carter yells from the backseat, "Hey look Mom- GEICO - you know with the little lizard." I just rolled my eyes in amazement. Since he knows all of his letter sounds, he has started to sound words out just by seeing them together so the parent-to-parent spelling game so the kids don't understand what is going on ---- yeah, no longer can be used here! He's at such an important "SPONGE" age that each day is a new learning experience. He was super exciting when his hero Evan won American Gladiators (he was such obsessed with that show) and was very pumped with the show, "My Dad is Better Than Your Dad!" starting up. As you can gather- he is our little competitor in everything he does! Everything is a race and award must be given. We are in for it come t-ball season in 3 months! Whitleigh and him are starting to play more and more together which has been nice to see but sometimes with both of their two very strong personalities- throw-downs happen!
Until next month, enjoy the slide show!
