April 2007

Disorganize: dis·or·gan·ize (dĭs-ôr'gə-nīz) (v.) - To destroy the organization, systematic arrangement, or unity of.

This pretty much sums up our April. Between Tyler flying non-stop and putting in countless 12+ hour days, school back in full swing for me and 2 children- it's a wonder we even ate most nights. Again though, we all survived.

Whitleigh has continued to be a wonderful baby and really is an alert little girl. She eats every 2 hours on the mark and don't you dare tell her that's it's only been 1 hr 45 minutes because when she's hungry, she needs to eat! She will not have anything to do with a bottle or pacifier so that limits the amount of time I have to either get something done on my own or travel anywhere. We are all adjusting to the car feedings and grocery store parking lot diaper changes. This month I attempted the bi-weekly grocery shopping by myself with 2 kids for the first time- quite an adventure! I was almost at peak frustration when I had lost track of Carter in the meat department (because heaven forbid him to stay close to me!) and once he found his way back to our cart I proceeded to give him a good spanking for wondering off. That was when an older lady was very quick to come up to me and tell me that I needed to remember to praise him too, not just point out the negatives. She then went on to say that she use to grocery shop with 5 children and I had nothing on her! Oh my. Even though I wanted to reminder her of how she had missed his 14 other tantrums down the cereal aisle, him knocking over the Craisen's display and him scaling the freezer doors in the Frozen foods sections... I literally had to bite my lip, smile and drag my child to the check out line before I broke down. I swore I'd never go alone again.

Carter really isn't that horrible of a child (well there are some days- kidding!) he's just so very busy and loves to get out of the house! I don't think he has a walking gene in him. He runs everywhere and it 100% all boy. Jumping kicking, hitting, throwing- everywhere we go. Maybe that's why Whitleigh seems so calm to us?! Carter is getting better and better at his games on Playhouse Disney and is still collecting all of the die cast airplanes not only to memorize their names but also now the pilots that we know who fly them. It's pretty funny to watch him simulate dogfights in the living room with his planes and the 2 1/2 year old commentary that goes along with it. There has been several cases where people have asked him what his Daddy does at work and he says, "He flies Strike Eagles and shoots the MIGS down." You just never know what he's going to say or do next.

Whitleigh is continuing to grow more and more. She gave us her first smile at about 6 weeks and just melted our hearts. She has the cutest little dimple in her left cheek and most of the time just gives us a little side, half smile. She's more awake during the days and sleeping about 3 1/2 hours stints at night. I live for the mornings when I get to dress her, she really is my real-life doll. I'm always trying to match her and I's outfits or at least put us in coordinating colors... anal I know, but I'm just loving it! It's funny that she already knows how to melt her Daddy down to nothing. Ty's in big trouble come 3 years from now when she's asking for every toy on the shelf. My parents were able to come out here over Easter weekend to see her for the first time and spend some time with all of us. We wanted to take them to the coast over the weekend but the weather did not want to cooperate. It was actually cold here so we just spend most of our days shopping inside or hanging out around the house. We still had a lot of fun and of course their vacation went entirely to fast, it was hard saying goodbye. We hope to be able to see them soon either during a vacation or maybe with a move out west in August. Ty is to find out his first assignment to an operational base in the end of May. We are hoping for Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. Only 10 hours away from home and finally a place with 4 seasons and no humidity!
